OMG 1970’s MUSIC ! (Part Two)

Top of the Pops LP

Top of the Pops LP

My last blog was about 1970’s chart music and the good old days of Top of the pops.  I decided to write about them because I often find myself humming or whistling the tunes to some of them when I’m busy doing housework or something (SAD!) and TOTP‘s was a big Thursday evening event in our house. At the time of the individual songs release depending on your age, some of these tunes were a big hit with you and your friends. when I was searching Google for them I came across so many more that I’d forgotten about so I thought I had to write a part two to 1970’s music. How on earth did they get away with “My Ding-A-ling” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaEC-lWSlmI , I remember singing that very loudly and proudly …oh dear ! How about “Telephone Man” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UexxG4RntfU which I hated but it’s got one of those stick in your head even if it makes you feel sick kind of tunes  😦    then there’s “Matchstalk Men and Matchstalk Cats and Dogshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rczfvybq-2g …now I do love that one or “The Grandad Song” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bHL_5eawxs&feature=related  …sorry that’s probably another one that should be kept hidden !!! And one last one on this weird area is the fantastic “Convoy Theme Song” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAPRrdgYU7o&feature=related” late 1970’s but just great 🙂 oh oh what about “Combine Harvester” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tb63PdPweDc&feature=related…   / “Ca Plane Pour Moi”  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PITnJAnmjqw I loved this to again late 1970’s…think I might have needed some help back then.

In amongst all these weird and sometimes wonderful tunes were also some Brilliant songs too like…

These are just a few and there are lots lots more I could subject you too, some early some late 1970’s .. but maybe if your around my age you’ll remember some of the weirder ones above and love some of them from the list too. Some are still very big today 🙂

Here’s a couple more – late 70’s (not so much my favorites, but they were definitely at the top of the charts): Knock On Wood (Amii Stewart), You Can Ring My Bell (Anita Ward), 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover (Paul Simon) … these 2 posts were so awesome. Brought back a TON of memories. LOL! So fun! 😀
